Day 42: Garage Sale Part 2

The second day of the garage sale went pretty well - I don't think we had as much traffic as we'd expected for a Saturday and the people who did come were lowballing our prices.  Alison and Zach spent most of the day with us, which was great.  I taught him how to catch a frisbee and he spent his day doing that and watching tv/playing video games with Kris.  Eric had to leave pretty early in the morning for work, he wanted to call in sick so he could hang out in the driveway with us!

That night Eric went to a family barbecue with his parents, Brian, Jen, and Shannon.  He was great and brought home some yummy steak, baked potato, and grilled corn on the cob.  I stayed home and had a girls night with Kristie and Alison.  We watched Addy roll around in catnip, funny YouTube videos, played New Super Mario Bros. and watched an episode of Drawn Together.

Day 41: Garage Sale Part 1

Wow, today went really great!  Eric and I woke up at 5:30, along with Mom, Alan, Kris, and Sarah.  We made cinnamon rolls and got to work setting up the garage sale.  Nearly everything was in place by 6:30am.  It started to sprinkle and we weren't too worried about it, then it started to pour!  For about 20 minutes we moved everything inside the garage, and the rain stopped. 

Eric and I made $120 today - probably off of about $200 in original priced items.  It looks like we won't make our $300 goal, but this is definitely money in the bank, so no complaining there!

We found this bible in the garage - It was printed in 1856! I'm going to look into how much restoration would cost on it, because this is a really really cool thing to have in the family!

Tonight I took Andrew and met Paul and Deb at the park for the free Liverpool, Beatles tribute band, concert.  They were trying to beat the record number of people playing "Hey Jude" on the kazoo - 5,300.  I highly doubt that they had anywhere near that many people, but it was lots of fun.  Andrew had an awesome time at his first concert, and I had a wedding cake flavored snow cone - it tasted just like wedding cake!!!

Day 40: Preparation

I spent the day working with Jack while Eric spent his day off putting in some good work at home.  He packed up some garage sale stuff, did lots of laundry, and took a friend to the airport.  In the evening we packed everything up and brought it out to Olathe.  We then hung out in the garage pricing and rearranging items in preparation for the big day! 

Our goal is to make more than $300, which will offset the cost of the plane ticket that we bought for Eric's friend.  It's possible that the gift to a friend in a time of need could prevent us from finishing up the final payment for my credit card next month - but we are okay with that possibility.  We still think that we'll be able to finish up my credit card and Eric's credit card by our first anniversary!

This is actually a picture from Friday because [gasp!] I didn't take any pictures Thursday because the camera was dead.  The signs above our heads say "Dave Ramsey says, 'Sell it All!'"

Day 39: Yeowch!

While at my nannying job, the UPS man delivered a large box of diapers and a large box of wipes.  When delivering smaller packages, they put it under the doormat so people don't steal your things.  Apparently for giant boxes, they just prop it up in front of the boxes, not obvious AT ALL!  I brought those inside early in the day and took Jack swimming that afternoon.  When we got back I started to kick the mat back into place when there was a pinprick of pain that rapidly grew into searing pain throughout my foot. 

I pushed Jack through the front door and said something along the lines of "doyouwanttowatchamovie?  GOOD, PUT A MOVIE ON, YES, WATCH RATATOUILLE!" I promptly iced, washed, iced, and numbing sprayed my foot.  I peeked outside to discover a nice family of wasps building their home on Jack's porch.  I only had another hour with Jack, so I also took two benadryl and some ibuprofen. The benadryl was not a good idea and I shouldn't have driven home - as soon as I made it, I passed out in bed for a nice 4 hours coma.

Eric was naturally at work through this excitement, but he woke me up when he got home and we made brownies!  Yum!

Day 38: Bugs

Today was a pretty average day.  Eric had work at Checkers and I worked with Jack.  The cats spent a nice lazy day at home sleeping - taking the occasional break to yell, hiss, and chase one another. 

A common "I've never met real danger" sleeping on her back, Addy; and a "I'll sleep on the smallest surface available," Mystic.

When Eric and I were home from work, we continued to attack the mess of boxes in our house.  We singled out a large amount of stuff for trash and the garage sale, and further organized anything going back into storage.  We have a little 5x5 storage space right outside our front door, and between the porch light and living room light, we had a bit of a security breach.  Addy went nuts over the dozen, or so, moths that made there way inside.  She proceeded to disable the flight capabilities of each and every one of them!  Hooray!

Sadly, this video demonstrates the spot on our inner lens, sad times!  I need to return the camera and iPod [cracked screen] to Best Buy.  Thank goodness for extended and initial warranties!

Day 37: GoJo's!

Today was pretty eventful - first off, it is my brother's 22nd birthday.  Happy birthday Kris!  I took my nephew for a few hours so he could have a child-free afternoon.  We went swimming at the Blackbob Pool with Jack.

He was such a good swimmer!

Then Eric and I went to dinner with Kris and Sarah at Gojo's!  Yum!

We're ready for some Japanese steakhouse entertainment and dinner!

Day 36: Free Stuff!

My lovely friend Katie gave us the wonderful gift of THIRTEEN boxes of teaching materials and a cat water purifier fountain - woo!

The cats were pretty scared of the waterbowl at first, so we're leaving it off for a few days.

P.S. We've got to exchange our new camera because there is something on the inner lens, causing a dark spot on the center of every photo.  Sad times!
