Day 179: A Blah Blah Bad Day

Today was blah and bad for both of us.  Work isn't getting any better for Eric - a new guy was just hired and is already getting more hours than Eric, who was given the impression he would be full time when he was hired nearly 2 years ago...  I got some bad news about placement for a student of mine, which will end up translating to hours on end of extra work for me after New Years.

But in the evening we ended up hanging out in the office with the space heater on, cozying up to appreciate what we've got and forget about the happenings of the day.  I ended up working on my New Super Mario Bros Wii game...I say my, but I bought it for Eric's birthday...  I'm up to 99 lives, I've beat through World 8-2 and have 115 Star Coins!  I am determined to completely beat the game!

Blahhhhhhh, naps solve all problems!

Eric was whistling along to his game music.

Day 161: Twas the Day After Thanksgiving 2.0...

...and everyone was pooped from all the shopping and eating!

Eric and I went over to Papa's house to help him set up his wireless internet and connect it to the Wii.  Then Eric had work and I spent the day at home playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Animal Crossing.  These long weekends are awesome!

Everyone was just as pooped as Juneau.  It's hard to see, but her legs are propped up on the wall of her kennel.

Day 156: It'sa me, Mario!

Ok really it'sa me, Eric. I had a discussion and essay test tonight in my Eastern Religions class. So a good part of the day was spent formulating questions for the discussion and trying to cram details for some of the seven possible essay questions of which I had to complete two. I managed to make it through class and hurried home to find Jess playing Super Mario Bros Wii. She got it for my birthday this year and we played together for a while but haven't in a couple months. Tonight she started the game over and in about two to three hours she got almost all the way through the first world. We talked about maybe driving into Lawrence to get something for dinner and some of our favorite cookies: Best Choice Creamy Wheels (off brand Oreos). But then Jess kept playing Mario and I kept looking at cars online. We went back and forth a few times this way and finally decided it was just too late to justify driving for half an hour to get cookies. We'll probably end up getting them tomorrow anyway.

Day 25: New Super Mario Bros.

Tomorrow is Eric's 23rd birthday!  Woo!  To celebrate, I got him the New Super Mario Bros. for Wii.  He often wants me to play 2 player games on the PS3 with him, but I'm not terribly interested in the games.  I got this for him as a game that he wanted, and a way that we can game together!

I wrapped it in a bunch of packaging and made him guess along the way...

A board game?

 A feather duster?

A movie/game?

As we were playing through, we both got a Yoshi and were very excited.  Then I sadly killed my yellow Yoshi.  A minute later in the same level, I found a PINK YOSHI!  And boy was I excited, I think Eric would describe my voice as shrieking "IGOTAPINKYOSHI!"

My pink Yoshi!  On the right

We also broke out the Eat Well Save Big Cookbook - we made Weeknight Ravioli Lasagna, priced at less than $2.15 per serving.  It's a layer of sauce, ravioli, more sauce, spinach, mozzarella, more ravioli, more sauce, and more mozzarella.  Delicious!
