Late Updates!

I haven't blogged in a little more than a month - so we'll just go for a photo dump!  It's been a pretty plain month though.  The weather has been fairly warm, though we did get a little bit of ice once.  I immediately hopped online and bought a set of YakTrax for Eric and me, so he doesn't fall while working and I don't fall on Squish.  Currently, Mom and Alan are in Mexico and Ashley is on her way home.  Eric is house sitting for them, and I can't wait to have him back at home next week!

 I had Cameron, Caleb, and Colin over for a fun night while Paul, Deb, Brian, Jen, and Eric wrapped up the winter mini-tour at Old Chicago.  We had a great time!

We house sat for Papa while he was in Michigan visiting the Murray's.  Addy came along so we didn't have to leave her home alone.  By the end of our time there, Addy and Frisco were coexisting fairly nicely! 

New Year's Eve at the Green's, in Smithville.  We played "Truth Be Told", which isn't nearly as fun with people who aren't as close with one another.

After holiday break, Kelli and I discovered that we had another person moved into our office!  It was a bit stressful to happen with no notice.  But we have since rearranged our office and it's all worked out! I actually think I like the new configuration a lot better.

Eric and I spent a nice chunk of savings and Christmas money on a new computer.  Brian helped Eric choose all of the parts and build it, I set up our wireless headphones on the TV and the computer, and now all we need is a wireless keyboard and mouse so we can use it on the TV. 

Mom got Alan a helium shark for Christmas - here it is peeking out of Alan's car. 

Alan was an instant pro at using the remote control to maneuver it around the house.

Ashley bought me a dress preservation service before the wedding.  Since then, my dress and the kit have been tucked away in our closet...oops.  So two weeks ago I tried the dress on (and it still fit!) and packed it away! 

So sad to see my dress go, but it will be clean and in a preservation box when it comes home.

November Photo Dump!

Squish has been making it incredibly difficult for me to sleep lately.  I started looking on Craigslist for a "Snoogle" pillow, which retails for about $60 - yikes!  I found one for $40, and offered the person $20 for it.  I was pretty surprised when the reply email came from someone I worked with last year, who had a baby over the summer!  Now Addy and I get sleep all wrapped up with pillow! 

Eric took me car shopping a few weekends ago, and I was pretty amused by this mirror. 

On Veteran's Day, Old Chicago gave everyone $5 of Foamer bucks on our World Beer Tour cards, so we asked Paul and Deb to come to dinner with us.  Along with that, they had a cardboard standup that you scan with your phone and it gives you a chance to win free food or drink.  Deb, Eric, and I all won something - I got cheesy garlic breadsticks, Deb got a big cookie, and Eric won a large pizza!  We could only use one, so we treated everyone to a Thai Pie pizza.  Nine beers, a pizza, and a fries basket ended up only costing us $14 - and (quite possibly for the first time ever) they let us pay for dinner! 

Brian and Jen hosted a Crock Pot Pot Luck party last weekend.  There were many interesting conversations, lots of great music, occasional dancing, and drunk people everywhere!  These parties are a lot more fun when I'm sober watching everyone else get silly! 

While we were at Mom and Alan's house last weekend, Chaos decided that the snickerdoodle cookies belong to him! 

Addy has been an extra large bum lately, cue "awwwwww" sound bit. 

I just about died laughing in the grocery store when I picked out the avocado for this weeks "Baby Green" picture, and then put it in the baby seat of the cart.  Seriously, I was beside myself. 

This is the countdown that I keep posted at work!  I accidentally mixed up weeks 16 and 17 (avocado and onion), but seeing as the foods relate to the length of baby, I think it makes sense that an avocado would come after the onion instead of before.  Oh well, I'm probably the only one who noticed my error :) 

 Last night, I decided that I wanted to have cinnamon rolls for dinner.  As the oven heats up, Eric decides he is craving pizza...so we made both!  This is what dinner looks like in the Green household!

Finally, a funny school story!  A few weeks ago, one of our paras was working in a third grade classroom.  The kids were told to cut out pictures of facial expressions and then to write about it in their journal.  The para noticed a kid cutting frantically, stuffing something in his desk, and then looking around the room suspiciously.  She asked him to give it to her and he tried to play dumb and give her the scissors, as she gave him "the look" he pulled the picture out of his desk and handed this gem to her.  Hilarious!

Day 343: A Night at The OC

We were invited out for beers at Old Chicago with the whole crew tonight.  Pau is in town, so she and Mary joined us as well.  Our server seemed a little green, but everyone still had a good time.  After we finished drinking - Paul, Deb, Brian, and Jen got their mini-tour t-shirts, and we headed back to Paul and Deb's for a bit of an after party.  This equals rowdy music, singing, and dancing for the men, and quiet conversation on the porch for the ladies.  Late, late, late fun - goodnight!

Day 266: Breakfast in Bed & The OC

I used the leftover breakfast food from Tuesday to serve us up a huge breakfast in bed, and then we had a mostly lazy morning around the house.  Eric had work and I spent most of the day reading - I've read 17 books since January and I've got 2 that I'm close to finishing!  Eric worked a 10:30am-7pm shift today, and we were invited to join his family at Old Chicago after he got out of work. 

We drove out to Olathe and met Paul, Deb, Brian, Jen, Shannon, and Taylor.  I wish I had taken note of the topics of conversations - mostly laughable and completely entertaining.

Day 174: Goodbye (Lawrence) Old Chicago!

Oh the memories!  In July of 2008 I started work at Old Chicago in Lawrence, it only lasted about an hour before I went home sick because of appendicitis.  Then I started working there again in August, and Paul, Deb, Eric, and I started the World Beer Tour.  1 WBT, many beers, pizzas, balsamic french fries, mini tours, and T-shirts later, Lawrence OC is closing it's doors.

Eric and I met up with Brian, Jen, Paul, Shannon, and Cody to celebrate and share one last round.  We were trying not to spend too much money, so we just had one big beer each and an order of  balsamic fries.  We had been waiting on the fries for at least twenty minutes, so I asked our waitress if they would be out soon.  Moments later, another server delivers them to our table, but it is the smallest order of fries I'd ever seen, and I wasn't going to pay $4 for them!  So I waved down the manager I used to work with and he said he'd bring out a fresh batch.  Right after that, our server walks up with an order of fries for us - not realizing that the other server had already brought them out.  She shrugged and passed them too us anyway, hooray!  We hadn't celebrated this success for long before the manager walked over with the largest portion of fries I'd ever seen - great success!  3 orders of fries for the price of one!

Day 166: Happy Birthday to Me?

Today I got an email from Old Chicago saying I've got a free birthday pizza on my World Beer Tour card, hooray!  I sent messages to Eric, Kristie, and Alison and we made it a date!  Everyone met up at the Olathe OC just in time for the KU Basketball game.  

Dinner was delicious and the conversation was good!  We were mostly entertained by Zach aspiring to be a photographer like Rob...though he needs to work on his composure...

Oh yea, the KU game was close...far too close...we almost went into OT and it was madness!

Day 145: Date Night at Old Chicago

Today is Veteran's Day and Old Chicago put $5 of Foamer Bucks on World Beer Tour members' cards so we would come in for a drink.  Well, this advertising totally worked on us and we made it an excuse for a date night!  We had a couple drinks and Eric had the Thai Steak Wrap, while I had the Thai Pie pizza.

Lucky for us, OC has trivia night on Thursday!  We only stayed for half the game because it was late and apparent that we were NOT going to win anything.  A brief overview of questions, our answers, and the correct answers: What is the code of knights?  Us: Chivalry! [correct!]; What burrowing cousin of squirrels is named after canines? Us: Ground hog? [wrong!  Prairie Dog!]; What is the shape of the phone in Juno? Us: Hamburger! We had 28 points and were in 14th place when we left - but this was out of more than 30 players and 8 were tied for first!

Day 104: Old Chicago Once Again!

 This morning Addy broke our scale!  She laid down on it and the weight registered is 169.4!  Now when Eric and I step on it, it registers as more than 400 lbs!  Every other Friday, Paul, Deb, Brian, and Jen meet up at the Lawrence Old Chicago for some beers.  We joined them after Eric got off of work and had a really good time drinking, talking, and playing pool.  Later in the evening Paul and Deb went back to Olathe and we went with Brian and Jen to Jet Lag.  On the way there, we stopped for gas.  We were there in 3 cars, dancing with our music turned up and a car of 18-19 year old guys pulled in between Eric, Jen, and me.  They had a good laugh at Jen and I dancing to each other!
