Day 268: Winter Attempts To Linger

UGH!  It has been in the 60's and 70's this weekend, and last night we dropped back down below zero and got 2-4 inches of snow before I left for school!  By the afternoon, spring was fighting back and raised the temperature to 45 degrees and melted almost all of the snow.  Hooray!

As the snow melted, it slid down the handrail and zig-zagged!

Day 173: Brrrrrrr!

I've got the best husband ever!  He tucks me into a cocoon every night so I don't freeze to death!  I've got (in this order) a blanket, a heating blanket (set to 7/10), a quilt, and a fleece blanket folded into two layers.  It's an awful lot of blanket, but I can't sleep unless it feels like I'm in an oven!  We're both glad we each have a twin sized heating blanket.  He sleeps with a blanket, a heating blanket (set to 4/10) and the quilt.

That's an awfully large pile of blankets for just one person!  It's 5 layers deep!

Day 158: Keeping Warm

Eric and I still haven't turned our heater up above 55!  After he got off of work tonight, we went up to Walmart and bought some things to weather proof the windows and front door, all of which have terrible drafts.  Unfortunately, it was a windy night and the drafts made it difficult to seal the windows.  The plastic kept puffing up with the air.  We'll weather strip the front door once it warms up a little bit - the instructions say it is best if the temperature is about 50 when you apply it.

Ta-Da!  The yellow tape is because the clear double stick wasn't strong enough to withstand the wind from our drafts.

The plastic wrap puffed out a good 5-6 inches when the wind blew.

Then we covered it with a sheet for a little more insulation!

Same deal with our living room window - drafty and covered with a comforter (until we buy our curtains).  Our Christmas tree is out, but we haven't started decorating it yet.
