Andrew's 2nd Birthday

Today was a trio of events - we went to church, back to Mom and Alan's house for Andrew's birthday party, and then back to church again for our final Financial Peace University class.

I thought Grammy would have appreciated that the war in Iraq was finished on Grammy and Papa's anniversary.

We didn't have candles...so we put two matches in Andrew's cake.  Kris was an awesome Dad and spent the weekend teaching Andrew how to blow out his lighter so he would be able to do it by himself for his birthday cake - success!

"C'monnnnn, I'm two and I blew out my candles... cake, please?"

Another Family Weekend!

Another picture post... because it is easier to caption photos than it is to tell a story!

Mom drove Andrew and i out to Topeka for breakfast with Kris, Ashley drove in from Hays and met us there.

Andrew enjoyed playing on the iPad on the way to Union Station, he covered it with finger prints.

Andrew LOVES trains, he was in heaven.

Ashley and I on the hand car.

Ashley and Andrew sword fighting, he was pretty good!

Uncle Eric watching TV with Andrew.

Sarah, Andrew, and me at the "Fire-Water" event on the plaza.

Mom, Alan, and Deb at Fire-Water.

Paul and Eric made it down to the creek after about an hour looking for a parking spot.

Andrew loves his strobe stick - and cried when I had to take it from him to fix the strap (so he wouldn't drop it in the creek).

The fire pits floating on Brush Creek.

Andrew was really intrigued by all of the people and the fire.

Not especially impressive, but pretty cool.

Andrew was SO sad about the sun coming in the window on the way to church.

Uncle Eric and Andrew with his "Sadie" balloon.

Andrew visiting Grammy's tree.

Phew, I'm glad our Squish is only the size of a peach right now!  Pumpkins are huge!

Just a priceless facial expression.

Andrew LOVED throwing the straw in the air.

Nana and her grandmonster.

Eric rode his bike to and from the pumpkin patch because we didn't have enough seats in the car for him.  He didn't mind.

St. Thomas Ground Breaking

It seems like we are spending a lot of time at church lately, but there has been a lot going on!  Tonight, Bishop Wolfe came to St. Thomas to bless the ground for their expansion project.  It was pretty special to be part of that ceremony.

The congregation creating the walls of our new building, along with their shovels to start the work.

Ahhh, the perfect way to end this day... with a killer migraine!

St. Thomas was Flocked!

As a fundraiser for the new building at St. Thomas, the youth group had a crazy and fun idea.  One hundred pink, plastic, flamingos landed on the lawn and needed to be coerced away before the Bishop arrived on Sunday.  For a $15 adoption fee, you could take one home with you!

So Eric and I bought one and it got to spend a few minutes with Grammy before heading home with us!

St. Thomas Blessing of the Animals

Addy didn't think we were serious when we told her that she had to come to church this week!

I love my big baby, she USED to like car rides...

Addy loves to sit with her daddy, almost the entire drive in to town.

I ended up kenneling her so she would stop pacing.

Once we were at the service, she still preferred sitting with her dad!

"Dad, keep me safe from all of the dogs!"

Addy getting blessed!

She doesn't look mad at all... haha!

What a Weekend!

Saturday morning I dropped Eric off at work and then spent the morning lounging at Mom and Alan's house. In the afternoon, Mom, Eric, and I helped Alison and Zach move into their new apartment.  For once, I was actually careful to rest and not overheat - I'm usually a work until it's done sort of person.  Then I went to church and left after the homily because I was feeling beyond sick.  I've had a cold since Thursday and I just can't breathe.  So I went back to M&A's to sleep, and Eric watched Kill Bill 2.  I define sleep loosely, because I was up ALL NIGHT coughing.

We woke up at 5:50 for the North Face Endurance Challenge.  Mom, Eric, and I headed to the Plaza for our 5k race.  Mom had a plan to run every other song on her phone, and my plan was to have my Runkeeper app prompt Eric and I to run for .2 miles, walk .3 miles, run .1 miles, walk .2 miles.  We kept that pace for the entire race, with the exception of one .2 stretch that we had to cut short because of a hill.  Mom's time was 36 minutes and 45 seconds.  Eric and I both ran it in 42 minutes and 59 seconds - Woo!

When we got home, we rested for a bit, and headed to St. Thomas to lead our first Financial Peace University preview.  However... nobody showed up.  No big deal though, the class doesn't start for three weeks.

So then we went home to make lunch for our game afternoon with Mom, Alan, Paul, and Deb (and then Shannon).  That was to introduce our news that you can hop over to read about on agreenbabyblog.blogspot.com!  Then we spent the evening running around to grandparent houses and making phone calls and Skype calls.  Phew - I was so glad to go home and go to sleep!

Vicks tissues - best thing ever when you have a cold!

I moved Zach's bookshelf across the parking lot on a Razor Scooter!

Eric, carried the desk like this.

Mom, Eric, and I finished the race - woo!

Yea!
