Day 133: Halloween Weekend Part 1

Eric worked today, during the day, and we had a really fun night party hopping.  During the day I was with Jack - the boy I nanny for over the summer.  We went to tennis lessons in Kansas City, then to the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, Science City, and U.S. Toy.  In the afternoon we watched a movie and took Papa's dog on a walk.  After I dropped him off with his grandparents, I headed home to get ready for our Halloween outings.

We started off by going to a party with a bunch of our mutual friends.  There was great music, fun costumes, conversations and dancing.  When we left, there was a costumed guy in the shadows calling out "are you good to drive" to everyone who passed, which was pretty funny but practical nonetheless.  I was sober all night, only drinking Dr. Pepper, so no worries there!  After that we headed over to the Sunflower House to meet some of Eric's work friends.  They had a live band and a lot of traffic with some pretty interesting costumes.

All in all - a pretty good day, but we've had better Halloween's.  Here's to hoping for something spectacular next year!

Day 132: Movie Night with Papa

Papa has asked Eric and I for some help with a few things and we were planning on visiting him tomorrow morning.  Our plans for a Halloween party tonight fell through, so we moved up our time and went to watch a movie with him.  We got the newest version of Robin Hood, with Russell Crow and Cate Blanchett, and it was really pretty good.  I guess it was meant to be a preface to the Robin Hood story that everyone knows.

This was another good chance for Eric and I to get some time in with our Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book on tape.  It took us nearly 10 minutes to find our spot on the iPod, and by the time we got home we were only able to listen to the beginning of a new chapter.

Eric cuddled up with Frisco, which made him a happy pup. 

Day 131: Adventures Galore!

Today was a no-good-very-bad day for me at work, and I came home grumpy.  I made Eric skip his class to keep me company, and we ended up having a really great night.  Strange as it sounds, we started out by paying all of our bills for the month.  Then we went to the Lawrence Public Schools Health Fair where I got a flu shot and both of us got trinkety prizes from various places with booths set up.

Then we went to Prairie Park for my elementary school's Fall Potluck and Trick-or-Treating.  We had an awesome (and free) dinner, and then we got to hand out candy to the kids.  The crowd didn't look too big, so we were giving away 2 pieces at a time...but then more and more kids came and we ran out!  Oops!

Day 130: Romantic Dinner Date

I worked until 6pm again tonight, so I did a little cleaning and relaxing before Eric got home around 8:30.  I told him that we were going out to dinner and he could choose between Sonic and Dairy Queen!  We ended up walking into DQ just steps ahead of a 30 girl volleyball team!  It was quite cold out, and Eric still got ice cream!

After we got our order, we proceeded with the typical Green weeknight - laying on the couches watching TV!  Tonight we started watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  I was rapidly getting too tired to watch, and knew I'd have to cut the movie short.  After the scene where Harry opens the golden egg in the prefect bath, I decided to take my own bath and go to sleep.

Eric's pumpkin is the only one surviving!  The cats look like someone punched them in the face while they were eating lemons, and my pumpkin is slowly turning into a black hole!

Day 129: Spontaneous Cooking

I was really motivated today and stayed at work until 6pm being quite productive.  Eric didn't have class today and I was curious why he hadn't called or texted, wondering why I was so late.  I walked in the front door at 6:10 and he was out cold on the couch.  I woke him up and told him to chill on the couch and play on the computer while I made dinner.  We haven't been cooking hardly at all lately, and didn't have a lot of options in the cabinets.  With a tornado of ingredients flying around, I had dinner served 25 minutes later!  Hand Breaded Chicken Parmesan without a recipe!  I was super impressed with my timing and being able to get it all done at once.  Plus, the chicken was amazing!

Then we watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.  We're got 2 more movies and 6 more chapters of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to listen to before the movie comes out - yahoo!  I was looking at the website So Much Pun and submitted a picture, inspired by the movie!

Day 128: Case of the Mondays

Booo, Eric and I both had our late classes tonight.  I was at mine until around 8:30 and Eric didn't get home until after 9.  We were both exhausted and just hung out to watch some episodes of 30 Rock and The Office.  We are mere episodes away from finishing the most current seasons of each of those - oh no!


Eric is still on track to graduate in the spring - he'll need one or two more classes.  I, however, won't be graduating in the spring - double boo!  I had an advising meeting after my class tonight and learned getting a masters degree isn't the same as getting a bachelors.  With the bachelors, you can take one or two classes in the summer and still "graduate" in the spring".  With my masters, I have to actually finish my project before I can graduate.  So I'll be getting my masters degree next year because I'm starting my project over the summer.

Day 127: Pumpkins & Bikes

We attended our first Halloween party of the year last night, and put our two costumes together, spending less than $10!  I was Dr. Pepper and Eric was Mr. Pibb!  Steven & Leslie were a pair of gym coaches, Edie was a witch, and Phil was a zombie.  Most of the people at the party participated in Steven's Coors Light Chugging Contest - Eric and Steven tied with 8.25 seconds, and Paul was in 3rd place with something like 12 seconds.  I drank mine in 2 minutes and 32 second, woo!!!

Later in the night we carved pumpkins, watched a movie, and shot some air soft guns.  I carved the 1912 Jayhawk and it turned out amazing!  Eric carved a pumpkin in a pumpkin, in a pumpkin, in a pumpkin, on his pumpkin.

Eric dropped me off at church for confirmation class with Ashley, then we headed out for an afternoon on the motorcycles.  Mom, Alan, Eric and I rode out to Gardner, spending around 2.5 hours out in the wind.  It was an awesome ride!
