Late Updates!

I haven't blogged in a little more than a month - so we'll just go for a photo dump!  It's been a pretty plain month though.  The weather has been fairly warm, though we did get a little bit of ice once.  I immediately hopped online and bought a set of YakTrax for Eric and me, so he doesn't fall while working and I don't fall on Squish.  Currently, Mom and Alan are in Mexico and Ashley is on her way home.  Eric is house sitting for them, and I can't wait to have him back at home next week!

 I had Cameron, Caleb, and Colin over for a fun night while Paul, Deb, Brian, Jen, and Eric wrapped up the winter mini-tour at Old Chicago.  We had a great time!

We house sat for Papa while he was in Michigan visiting the Murray's.  Addy came along so we didn't have to leave her home alone.  By the end of our time there, Addy and Frisco were coexisting fairly nicely! 

New Year's Eve at the Green's, in Smithville.  We played "Truth Be Told", which isn't nearly as fun with people who aren't as close with one another.

After holiday break, Kelli and I discovered that we had another person moved into our office!  It was a bit stressful to happen with no notice.  But we have since rearranged our office and it's all worked out! I actually think I like the new configuration a lot better.

Eric and I spent a nice chunk of savings and Christmas money on a new computer.  Brian helped Eric choose all of the parts and build it, I set up our wireless headphones on the TV and the computer, and now all we need is a wireless keyboard and mouse so we can use it on the TV.

Ashley bought me a dress preservation service before the wedding.  Since then, my dress and the kit have been tucked away in our closet...oops.  So two weeks ago I tried the dress on (and it still fit!) and packed it away! 

So sad to see my dress go, but it will be clean and in a preservation box when it comes home.

Day 365: We Made It!!!!

This morning we woke up early and made our new favorite camp breakfast - bagels with breakfast potatoes, bacon, cheese, and eggs.  Yum!  But then we had to pack up directly after to go to church.  Any other day, we might have skipped church to keep hanging out with family, but today is different!  One year ago, today, we were getting married!  After the service every week, Father Gar or Father Kevin asks if there are any birthdays or anniversary's being celebrated, and they say a blessing for you.  So it was important to us to go up today for our first anniversary blessing!

I was talking with Eric this afternoon about how I feel a little guilty that a lot of people we know have had relationship problems over the last year - and it doesn't seem fair that they have to go through all kinds of crap while we are so happy with each other (though we do have our problems, they have been minor and quickly resolved).  I really liked how Eric responded - we've got some pretty amazing relationship role models, and it's important that we can potentially be that for other people as well.  That got a big "awwwww" out of me, because I really hope that will be true of us.

Anyhow...we have made it a full 365 days of marriage, life, and blogging!  I guarantee you that there will be a post tomorrow, because it is our first wedding anniversary.  I can also guarantee that there will no longer be daily posts.  I truly love what this blog will provide us in the future, and absolutely plan to continue updating regularly to chronicle our memories.  How cool is it that years from now, we'll be able to share this (in the form of a book where the blog will be printed) with our kids or grandkids?

This morning Molly wrote on my Facebook wall and said "Cash was looking at some piece of paper and at the top was a banner and he asked what a banner was. I told him it was like ribbons on the paper. And he said, 'Ribbons like we put on Grammy's tree?'" Too cute, and definitely made me cry!

Day 114: My Cooking Blog

We've been really busy for the past week and I have neglected to update my newest project, the Budget Cooking for Couples blog.  Tonight we made Beefy Corny Noodley Stuff, an "old family recipe", with our own cheap twist on it - turkey!

Day 113: Mr. & Mrs. Edwards on 10-10-10!

This morning I went to the first Episcopal adult confirmation class with Ashley, church with Mom and Ashley, then over to Papa's house with Eric.  While the ladies were off at church, Eric spent the time riding around town on his motorcycle.


Later in the afternoon we got to be guests at the 10-10-10 wedding of my high school best friend, Kristie Gilman, and her fiance, Ryan Edwards.  The ceremony was held outside at the Mahaffie Farm in Olathe.  There was a duo performing on guitar/violin and (if I googled it correctly) a hammered dulcimer.  Ryan was adorned with a top hat, sword, cane, and a neat cog/mirror piece hanging on a chain.  Kristie's dress was beautifully made by her Granny, and her hair was amazing!  I'm always impressed to see what can be done with straight hair, as mine won't cooperate with any type of curl!

After the ceremony, Eric and I raced over to the reception hall with Alison, Rob, and Zach to help set up the room.  The room was beautiful when it was all set up - including a Famous Dave's BBQ buffet, DDR Machine, and video compilations of pictures of the two of them.  While we helped set up, we had the nervous pleasure of helping to solve a minor cake emergency.  Other than that - it seemed like everything went off without a hitch.  Well...Ryan and Kristie got hitched!  Congratulations!!!

Day 59: Wedding Thank-You's!

So, if you've been reading the blog - you know that we've been kept busy with pet troubles, honeymooning, eviction threats, broken [and new] electronics, the start of school, and more!  We were getting sick of relatives saying "do you have so-and-so's address?  They haven't gotten their 'thank-you' card yet..." and so on, so we have finally taken care of these!  We're mailing them on Friday so they are postmarked on our 2 month-iversary!

If you gave a gift and somehow don't end up with a thank-you, I'm really sorry and we'd be more than happy to send one!  It even comes with a "here's what we've been up to" letter.  We tried really hard to keep track of what we got and from who, but I am certain that we missed a few.  Again, sorry in advance!

We also brushed Addy, because her lazy bum is getting matted hair.  As we comb her, she makes sure to cry as loudly as possible and bite at the comb here and there to show us just how pleased she is with the experience.

Day 23: A Tough Day

Nothing went terribly wrong today, but nothing really went right either.  I was hoping to change my name on my driver’s license and bank account today, but the mail with our marriage certificate didn’t come until after I’d left for work.  I got my new social security card in the mail on Saturday, and could have probably used just that.  But I was feeling ultimately tired and lazy today, so I didn’t get to it anyway.

I planned to order our thank you cards for the wedding this evening, but our photographer didn’t include the edited picture for it on the CD.  Along with that, I’m grumpy because some of the pictures I like have the tops of heads or bottoms of feet cut off, or the moment was missed [catching us right before a kiss and not during], parts are blurry, and most of the pictures are oriented horizontally and cut us off at the waist when I requested that they be vertical and catch us from head to toe.  Did anyone get a good picture of the “you may kiss the bride” kiss?  Because they didn’t.

 We reenacted the kiss, we're on the wrong sides because the picture is taken on a timer from the gazebo, so we were really on the correct sides.

We also found a “We’ll be inspecting your apartment on Wednesday to prepare for check out” note in the house.  We’ve now told them 3 times that WE AREN’T MOVING.  I have a copy of the signed notice that we aren’t leaving somewhere.  But in the craziness leading up to the wedding, I’ve got not a clue where it could be.

I also got an email saying that the letterbox that we placed on our wedding day is no longer where we planted it.  We're super bummed about that.  Lame.

 Sigh, no letterbox.  It should have been tucked in the bottom left corner.

Oh!  And I had Andrew’s clothes on the couch last night, and during the night Addy peed on them.  … and the pillow that I just put under my head.  I think I’m having her bladder removed.

FANTASTIC!  The State of Kansas spelled my godmother’s name and city wrong on the marriage certificate.  What the hell?  I may as well have Addy pee on this too.

In the end, Eric and I went out and confirmed that the letterbox is gone.  But we also went to Walmart and did some more talking about TV’s, it seems that we may be buying one on Thursday for Eric’s birthday!
