Day 165: The Balance of Work and Play

Tonight was torture!  I got home from work and had a big project for school that I have put off for a few weeks.  Well...it's due tomorrow and I hadn't even started.  But I truly produce my best work under that kind of pressure.  Of the 8 hours between getting home from school and going to bed, I spent at least 5 of them working on the project.  Probably 2 of those hours were spent playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii :)

It was a good night for Eric too because we weren't able to do anything together, so he was free to game all night long!

Now that Andrew has grown out of his car seat, Mystic is free to be the baby again.

Eric brought home some really good Sweet Tomato and Basil Ragu sauce, and we had a delicious dinner!

Day 164: Games for Everyone

I saw on Facebook that Kristie didn't work any nights this week, so I suggested that we get together sometime this week.  She came over to our place to play Wii, weeeeeeeeeeee!  I started by showing off my mad skillz collecting 1ups on 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. Wii.  Then we spent quite awhile playing Kirby's Epic Yarn.  There were all kids of funny puns like “I'll show you the ropes”.  Kristie hadn't played it with 2 players and I'd never played before, so we thoroughly enjoyed the novelty of picking each other up and throwing each other around.

Then we played Donkey Kong for awhile, and it's putting it nicely to say that I needed a lof of help, haha.  I just had a hard time figuring it out and kept dying!

Then Eric was the star of the show, playing MAG online with Steven and some other guys.  It was funny because the guys he was playing with could hear Kristie and I talking from across the room because of our higher voices (and distinctive laughs!).

 Mystic is obviously quite interested in everyone's games!

Day 162: The Office!

Way back when (When you ask?  On Day 8 of us being married of course!, we posted pictures of the post-wedding apocalypse that we call our office.  It was pretty much where we threw anything wedding related, and anything that didn't belong somewhere else in the house.

Over the past few days, Eric and I have nearly made it to the finish line in getting it back to a functional room!

The desktop computer hasn't been functional in ages, and we got the desk cleaned off and the computer up and running.

We've got all the board games and Wii equipment in here.

The bed is completely clean!

And I can't just hide this - there is a pile of clutter in the entrance to the room, but that will be taken care of this week.  Huzzah!

Day 161: Twas the Day After Thanksgiving 2.0...

...and everyone was pooped from all the shopping and eating!

Eric and I went over to Papa's house to help him set up his wireless internet and connect it to the Wii.  Then Eric had work and I spent the day at home playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Animal Crossing.  These long weekends are awesome!

Everyone was just as pooped as Juneau.  It's hard to see, but her legs are propped up on the wall of her kennel.

Day 160: Black Friday & Thanksgiving 2.0

This was the longest day we've had in a long time... We actually woke up and were out of the house by 4:30.  We headed to Target and found a line that wrapped around the store one and a half times.  This wasn't unexpected, but Eric and I went ahead and got in line while Mom and Alan went shopping.  Once they were done, we had only moved about 1/4 of the way through the line, so Eric and I were able to take off to look at stuff.  It was quite an adventure, and pretty fun too.

We got to WalMart around 7 and the crowds were nonexistent, so we got to shop with leisure.  Once we found what we needed, everyone (Eric and me, Mom and Alan, Deb and Shannon, Jodi, and Darcy) headed out to IHOP.  Shannon was a genius and grabbed some coupons from home - 2 for $20 off a purchase of $35+ and 1 for buy one get one free meals with a free dessert.  Paul joined us for breakfast and our checks were split as Deb, Paul and Shannon; Mom, Alan, Eric, and me; and Jodi and Darcy.  Paul and Deb's check was just over $35 and cut down to $15, Mom and Alan's was closer to $40 and cut down to $20, and Jodi and Darcy got their meals for half price with a free dessert - score!

We all piled over to Bed Bath & Beyond next, and finished the shopping day at the T-Mobile store, where Eric and I finally transferred onto our own shared account!  We had to spend over an hour on the phone with an outsourced customer service call center, but we're glad to have our own plan now.


The next step was a nice long nap before the Wenberg Thanksgiving started.  Lots of cooking and eating occurred, then we all played Wii and other games.  Goodnight!

Mom was comparing Eric to my brother, Kris, and said something to the effect of "Kris and I used to sleep together (as in share a room)" and then she went to qualify the statement by saying "You know, like in the backseat (meaning on vacations and such)" only making it worse...

She thought the "in the backseat" statement would help and went into hysterical laughter when she realized what she had said.

Day 156: It'sa me, Mario!

Ok really it'sa me, Eric. I had a discussion and essay test tonight in my Eastern Religions class. So a good part of the day was spent formulating questions for the discussion and trying to cram details for some of the seven possible essay questions of which I had to complete two. I managed to make it through class and hurried home to find Jess playing Super Mario Bros Wii. She got it for my birthday this year and we played together for a while but haven't in a couple months. Tonight she started the game over and in about two to three hours she got almost all the way through the first world. We talked about maybe driving into Lawrence to get something for dinner and some of our favorite cookies: Best Choice Creamy Wheels (off brand Oreos). But then Jess kept playing Mario and I kept looking at cars online. We went back and forth a few times this way and finally decided it was just too late to justify driving for half an hour to get cookies. We'll probably end up getting them tomorrow anyway.
