Day 295: Granny's 99th Birthday Dinner

We started today by putting out the garage sale, only selling $7 worth of stuff in the first two hours, and packing it all up to send to Goodwill and Half Price Books - all before 10am!  Then we packed up our stuff and joined Paul and Deb on a trip to Warrenton to celebrate Granny's 99th birthday.  She will be 99 on Tuesday, the 99th anniversary of the Titanic sinking.

The drive was uneventful - lots of sleeping and we stopped for one letterbox on the Mizzou campus, which Eric and I survived.  How can you compare the awesome Jayhawk letterboxes of Lawrence to Columbia being proud of creating Mules?  Ha!

Granny seemed to be doing alright today - she recognized Paul, Deb, and Eric and thought I was Shannon.  She wasn't quite sure how old she was, varying from 89-95.  Then after we got home from dinner she didn't know where we were, but then determined we were home because she recognized the house across the street.    she kept telling Grandpa Ken to take his hat off because "he didn't look like himself", and was content when he followed her directions.

Then we had to drive another 3 hours back to Olathe, and 40 minutes home to Eudora.  I was pretty worried about the cats because Eric didn't have his house key on him yesterday when he came out for work, so he couldn't give them food or water.  They hadn't had either since Friday night.  We made sure to give them lots of love (along with the food and water) and they are both doing fine.

Har-har, Mizzou's most impressive attraction is homemade mules!

Everyone out to dinner for Granny's birthday - Granny, Tony, Paul, Deb, Eric, Me, Ken, Karen, Kira, Matthew, Cullen, Madison, Kyle, Loreen, Brenda, Donna, Tootsie, Sugar, Joanie Lynn, and Mae.

Us with Granny.

Denny's is currently hosting "Baconalia!"  Eric had bacon pancakes for dinner and really wanted the maple bacon sundae for dessert.

Stopped to find a letterbox on the way home.

Day 23: A Tough Day

Nothing went terribly wrong today, but nothing really went right either.  I was hoping to change my name on my driver’s license and bank account today, but the mail with our marriage certificate didn’t come until after I’d left for work.  I got my new social security card in the mail on Saturday, and could have probably used just that.  But I was feeling ultimately tired and lazy today, so I didn’t get to it anyway.
That says Jessica Elyse Green!
Even though there are typos, we're still married!
I planned to order our thank you cards for the wedding this evening, but our photographer didn’t include the edited picture for it on the CD.  Along with that, I’m grumpy because some of the pictures I like have the tops of heads or bottoms of feet cut off, or the moment was missed [catching us right before a kiss and not during], parts are blurry, and most of the pictures are oriented horizontally and cut us off at the waist when I requested that they be vertical and catch us from head to toe.  Did anyone get a good picture of the “you may kiss the bride” kiss?  Because they didn’t.
We reenacted the kiss, we're on the wrong sides because the picture is taken on a timer from the gazebo, so we were really on the correct sides.
We also found a “We’ll be inspecting your apartment on Wednesday to prepare for check out” note in the house.  We’ve now told them 3 times that WE AREN’T MOVING.  I have a copy of the signed notice that we aren’t leaving somewhere.  But in the craziness leading up to the wedding, I’ve got not a clue where it could be.
I also got an email saying that the letterbox that we placed on our wedding day is no longer where we planted it.  We're super bummed about that.  Lame.
Sigh, no letterbox.  It should have been tucked in the bottom left corner.
Oh!  And I had Andrew’s clothes on the couch last night, and during the night Addy peed on them.  … and the pillow that I just put under my head.  I think I’m having her bladder removed.
FANTASTIC!  The State of Kansas spelled my godmother’s name and city wrong on the marriage certificate.  What the hell?  I may as well have Addy pee on this too.
In the end, Eric and I went out and confirmed that the letterbox is gone.  But we also went to Walmart and did some more talking about TV’s, it seems that we may be buying one on Thursday for Eric’s birthday!

Day 10: It's Official! Letterbox & TV

Eric and I woke up early to drive to Topeka to pick up our official marriage license. We got there right at 9 when they opened, were second in line, and waited 20 minutes to be told that it was too early and the license wasn't processed yet. Lamesauce!  So instead of going to the DMV to change my drivers license, we drove to South Park to check on our wedding letterbox.

 The first non-family find.

Us with our notebook.

AND!  We got netflix on the Wii!

Which means breaking the "no TV in the bedroom" rule, Dr. Mario here I come!
